our story

All aboard La Estacion! This unique restaurant is set on what was formerly one of the first train stations built in 1881 during Waukesha’s heyday as a resort destination. Today, it is operating as a full service Mexican Restaurant & Bar and is recognized as a historical landmark by the City of Waukesha. Owner, Tony Marquez, began his culinary journey nearly 30 years ago in the city of Chicago while working in the kitchen of his family’s restaurant. It was there that he mastered secret family recipes which led to creating our extensive menu of authentic mouthwatering dishes. Tony took over the train depot and opened as La Estacion Restaurant in 2003. He is also the proud owner of El Jardin Mexican Restaurant in Janesville, Wisconsin which was established in 1998.

La Estacion captures the fascinating heritage of Mexico with its culinary style of traditional Mexican dishes, music, art, and colorful décor. The interior features a main dining area along with dine-in train cars, private party train cars, and a full service bar.  Our seasonal outdoor patio is a favorite spot for outdoor dining especially in summer time when flowers are in full bloom. Your dining experience at La Estacion will be one to remember with its unique train station motif, delicious food, signature margaritas, and great customer service.  Better yet, there is still an active train line that passes right behind the restaurant adding an extra thrill to an already exciting and highly entertaining atmosphere. We welcome you to dine with us and catch a glimpse of the past!

We look forward to serving you and sharing our joy of authentic Mexican food and culture.
